Istanbul Topkapi Palace

Topkapi Palace was the second imperial palace of Ottoman Empire after conquest of Istanbul. The palace was built between 1460 – 1478 by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror. Sultans used this palace about 400 hundred years and then they built Dolmabahce Palace.

Topkapi Palace has four courtyards. In the first courtyard you can find church of Hagia Irene, gardens and several fountains. In the second courtyard there are some kitchens, Harem section and the Imperial Hall. In the third courtyard consists the Throne Room, the Treasury and the Pavilion of the Holy Mantle. The fourth courtyard was the private garden of the Sultan.
